To qualify for Hilo, you must first live in a municipality where the service is available. Currently, Hilo’s service area covers 95% of Hydro-Québec customers, with plans to extend to 100% of areas served.
In addition to the above, you need to:
- Be the account holder, co-holder, or authorized representative on a Hydro-Québec account with D rate (basic) service, without the Winter Credit Option;
- Have a high-speed internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps) and a wireless home network, along with an available Ethernet port on your modem or router;
- Own a smartphone;
- Rely on electric heating as your primary heat source.
